How much is sponsorship, and what does it cover?
Sponsorship is $100 a month. We open a bank account for each family with our partner bank and transfer your gift every month. Tikuret pays the transfer fees, so 100% reaches the family. It helps cover food and shelter, medical care and therapy, the child’s education, and job training for the mother.
Am I matched with a specific family?
Yes. Each sponsor is matched with one family from our waitlist, and your monthly gift goes directly to them. If your family ever leaves the program, we’ll match you with a new family.
Will I hear from my family?
Yes. You’ll get email updates with photos and private video interviews with your family. You’re welcome to write to them, send gifts, or visit. Contact us to arrange it.
How long is the commitment, and can I cancel?
Sponsorship is month to month, and you can cancel anytime through your Zeffy receipt. Each family depends on one sponsor, and our goal is to make every family independent within two years. If you can, walk with them the whole way.
How do you choose which families are supported?
Our team visits families at home to assess their needs. Sister Asayech, our doctors and our program coordinators then decide who joins the waitlist and who is supported next.
How does sponsorship lead to independence?
Our goal is for every family to earn a stable income and have savings within two years. Mothers train in our Income Generating Activity program as artisans making baskets and home accessories. They are paid whenever their work sells at bazaars or from our workshop.
Is sponsorship tax-deductible?
Yes. Tikuret is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 88-3880661). Zeffy emails you a tax receipt automatically after every donation.
